Telling is telling
On Wednesday's moodle session we were talked about the two different ways that you can tell someone to do something. You could do it directly like, "You need to blog for every class," or you can do indirectly like, "A blog should be posted for every EN 100 class," but either way, you are still informing someone on what/ how something should be done. So, there are two ways you can inform someone, and how you do it, will depict which type you are using.

This time I Moodled early so that I would not have to worry about it later, but then I forgot to blog! We were asked to discuss the two types of process analysis and to explain our thoughts on Mott's essay. The two types of process analysis is simple to understand. Direct and informative process explains it in the name. I am not sure how to give examples, but I am sure we'll do more exercises on how to do it. Well we have Test #3 on Monday on chapter 8. Try not to procrastinate like how I do!
moodle
I did not blogged yesterday because I was having technical difficulty with my internet. The essay of Mott was a very organized and interesting essay. I am fear that the next test will be very difficult, and I am scared that I might not passed this class. I need more extra credit in order to fullfill the possibility to pass this course.

Whew!
Well to start off I'm getting used to having lots of homework which is good, because for this whole week I have been on homework like nobody's business. But right now I just turned in one research paper of three pages, one essay, and three assignments from my intro to teaching class. And at the same time I'm trying my best to not forget anything, because as I mentioned in my previous blogs, I can't remember everything all at once and I have to break sometimes just to catch my breath. But, as I was stressing out from all this homework I remembered something that always gives me relief even when things go wrong. It's a comment from my pastor at church and he said, "God will never give you anything you can't handle." And it true because all my homework was piling up and then when I simply just forgot the fact that it's hard and did it, and before I knew it, all my homework was all gone. And I was so relieved and that comment is so true, so to everybody who thinks everything is hard, just read my blog and do the work. Take kare and good luck on studying on the test.
2 things
Today we learned about two things which are; Informative process analysis and directive process analysis. Informative tells the reader what will happen in the future and the directive tells the reader what to do. It was very interesting and helpful because now I know when I am talking to someone I know what analysis I am using.
Moodle
I almost forgot going moodle and luckily, I did'nt! I was shocked when I saw that there were two topics being posted at moodle. Unluckily, I only did the first topic because I can't find Moth's essay on my book. I'm awfully scared right now if that would affect my grades. The first topic talks about the Directive and Informative Essays. Directive uses the second person pronoun (is it?) "You" to directs us about something. While Informative, informs us how a certain phenomena happens.
Have a great weekend everyone! Goodluck for the test!
Have a great weekend everyone! Goodluck for the test!
Moodle
Today I learned about two things. One was the two types of process analysis and the other is that Mott's essay isn't in the book. Hopefully I don't get points off for that post on Mott's essay because i couldn't find it. Well, that was class today. On Monday, we have a test on Chapter 8 so make sure you guys study. Good luck and please get back at us on Mott's essay not being in the 11th edition Dr. Rivera.
MOODLE x2
Today was just another one of those moodle days. But instead of just one assignment, we got two. At first it caught me off guard so i was thinking of just picking one. Then I thought to myself why not kill two birds with one stone. But when i was trying to get the second assignment done, I could not find the essay we were supposed to look over. I feel that Mott didn't want to talk to me. But if that's how Mott is going to be then so be it. We'll just take this to the big boss herself, Dr. Rivera.
Moodle
I was not having such a great day so moodle saved me the time and stress on some things. Although, I cannot seem to find that story we are suppose to write about in the new edition. Could someone help me out here? I did get the first one done, which was about the two types of process analysis. There is directive and informative. Directive being able to explain how something is done and gives a sense of direction to the reader and informative being able to explain what happened. It was easy now I'll just hope and wait for someone to help me find the page for the second assignment before it is due.
Moodle sessions are always great! It gives me a lot of time to catch up on some sleep. I had a really productive day. I finally found my costume for Halloween! I think people should get into the spirit of Halloween, it's a chance to be someone you're not. Well, I just finished doing my moodle. Luckily, I was reminded. Thanks Andrea! I hope you all have a good weekend everybody and see you next week!
Oh my, I was having a bit trouble on Monday when I was posting my blog entry for the day. It wouldn't go through. However, I thought it did. It wasn't until my classmates Dolores and Andrea told me that they couldn't see my post. So I apologize for my late work, again. I hope this doesn't affect my grade. Well, all we did was a couple of excercises and read, a lot. Then we blogged and commented on each other's own. That's all for now. See you later!
Todays Moodle session was effective but confusing. At first I was surprised that there were two assignments and as I proceeded onto the second one I found that the essay we were supposed to read was nowhere to be seen. Im glad I did my work today because I learned about the directive and informative process analysis.
Today we met on moodle but instead of replying to one assignment we had to reply to two. I found the first one to be easy but I couldn't find where Mott's essay was. I looked all over the book from chapters 1 to 12 thinking I wasn't looking carefully but still could not find it. I hope I don't get deducted points for not moodling about the essay. If anyone knows where it is in the new edition, can you please let me know. Good luck studying everyone, and have an amazing Halloween.
Moodle Room
Today we had our regular online class. But it was different, there were two assignments we had to do. It is the first time we had that. However, I could not find the essay for the second one, Mott's? I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me on it. Oh well, as I wait I am writing this blog. So we have a test coming up on Monday. I just wanted to say, good luck to you all!
Two for one special
It was quite different today. We had two Moodle topics rather than the average single topic one. I enjoyed my dose of self teaching. I also liked Mott's essay. I found it very organized and short. This chapter should go by smoothly the next time we discuss it.

Today in Class
We read and discussed Chapter 9: Analysis by Division. And we went over Chapter 8 to review for the upcoming test on Monday. We have to read different passages, and go over the questions. My score on the last time's test is fair. I hope everybody did good, and we all have to study more for the next test. No more procastinating!
STUDY STUDY STUDY
After seeing my test number two grade, I really feel the need to study more. I can just about guarantee my participation in the two extra credit events. Today, instead of moving to chapter 9, we went back to study and familiarize chapter 8. I can't wait for the next test. I am determined to get a higher grade!
Our lesson today was on chapter 8, which had some interesting passages and stories. Writing with examples is what chapter 8 is about, reading stories and answering questions using examples from the passage. I thought the "Who's Cheap" passage was pretty interesting and funny. Also, we got to turn in our Midterm today, which was supposed to be due last Monday I think. I think it was okay if we turned it in today, hopefully.
Today in class, we were able to see what we got on our test but couldn't see it until Christian takes his test. I wasn't too pleased with my grade, knowing that I could have gotten a better grade if I just prepared more for the test instead of procrastinating. Besides receiving our grades, we learned the four steps in explaining how something works or exists as a unit. We also went over exercises that could ultimately help us to familiarize ourselves with the coverage of test #3. Today, I also turned super red because I pronounced a word wrong and couldn't continue reading the passage. See you all on moodle.
Let us all write.
Today's lesson was about "Division Analysis." Afterwards we reviewed for the test on chapter eight. These lessons are allowing me to appreciate the many writing styles. I have always appreciated them, but now I am getting a clearer insight of them. The classes are fun and I am becoming a better writer.
10/25/10
My day is alright. I felt so tired this morning. I was craving coffee to wake me up. But I didn't get my coffee. So I'm feeling a little bit sleepy right now. Anyway, I come to class and I find out that we have a mid term self reflection due! I didn't even know we had to do it. This really sucks. But thank you classmates for allowing us to turn it in before midnight tonight and points won't be taken off. So for class, we went over chapter 8 because we have a test on Monday. We went over a lot of the exercises because it will be on the test. So after doing that we went on our blog and started blogging. Well I have to go now and write my self reflection paper before midnight!
10-25-2010
Our Midterm Self-Reflection and the All About Me essay is due. We were given a long time to submit them, but luckily we have an awesome teacher that's very lenient with us. Today we went over exercises that are helpful to the next Test. We also saw our test grades and I was impressed with my grade. Hopefully I do good on the next test because i already know what to study for. Make sure you guys blog after your moodle and study for the next test Monday. Good luck!
Thank you Doctor Rivera!
Thank you to Doctor Rivera and all our classmates that agreed to allow all of us that did not turn in our midterm to turn it in by midnight without getting any points deducted. I honestly thought that the self reflection was the same thing as the "All about me," essay. Unfortunately they are not the same thing. So, thank you to all those concerned for allowing those of us who misunderstood to turn in our self reflection by midnight.
Exercises and more excercises
Continuing on chapter eight, we expanded on the stories listed here and we had a fun time reading it. Some stories dealt with dating and finding the right person. One was talking about a girl living in California and to talk about why to travel anywhere when you're in Southern California. And the last story we read was the most interesting one yet. It was about a variety of men who are cheap with their dates or in life period. And the woman are upset with men like that, but I know that I'm not like that. And then we heard that our test number three is coming up and hopefully I could pass because I need it. Good luck on the test everybody!
Monday....
Our Mid-Term Self Reflection Essay is due today, although I wasn't quite finish with it. Thankfully, we have until midnight to turn it in. Then, I find out that the revisions to the All About Me essay was not done right so I have until next Monday. During the discussion, we went over things that will be on Test #3 which is a big help and we also got to see our grades for Test #2. We reviewed chapter 9 which is Analysis by Division: Examining the Parts. That was basically class.

test #2
I forgot to blog last week and I am very surprised that I was studying the wrong materials, I was studying the Poem that Dr. Rivera gave us and also some different stuffs. I wish that the next test will be much easier. And I really like the class pictures.
Today we were able to find out the results of Test #2. Some of our classmates did not take the test yet so we were not able to go over the answers. I was not satisfied with my grade, so next time I promise I will do better. Even though I am being hypocritical, I will try not to procrastinate. We read different passages aloud in class and I think there was laughing gas in the air because I could not stop laughing at Dolores while she was reading. We also discussed Analysis by Division. See you all in the Moodle room!
I forgot to blog the last time I took the test so hopefully this makes up for it. The test for me was difficult. Like the first time I didn't study as much as I should have. I'm hoping that the following test we take will pick up my grade. I am also hoping that I will be able to attend the extra credit. Hopefully everything will turn out and I will finish the course with an alright grade.
db
Today we started reading Chapter 9, Analysis by Division: Examining the Parts. We read about its procedure, organization, sequnces of parts, and the two uses of analysis by division. We then started reviewing for our 3rd test. Dr. Rivera said it would be different from the first two tests. I will try and study harder.
GSD!!!!
Today I took my make up test. Thank the Lord above that Dr. Rivera is such an understanding teacher. She makes me want to do better in life. The test that I took was kinda challenging. I say that because I did not study at all. Regardless of the fact that I didn't study, I feel that I did satisfactory work. I do know that i can do much better. Right now Anthony is poking with his finger. It is making me laugh so much.
October 20, 2010
How come this did not appeared on the class blog last time? uh-oh. Something must be wrong. I just realized this by now when I kept looking for my last blog dated, Oct.20, 2010. We had our test # 2 and I think I am okay. In fact, I did not study that hard the other night because my eyes got tired. I just studied from my way to school while driving. I gave myself any hint to make me remember the important topics. And I am glad that I did not forget the things I've studied. I hope everyone did good on the test!
I forgot to blog for the first time. Last week Thursday, we took our test #2. Test #2 was quite hard for me. Although I studied for the test, it was as if I didn't fully study the right material. From this point on, I will stop procrastinating and study all the material needed for future tests. Honestly, the first test was easier than the second but it's expected because lessons usually tend to get harder as we progress. Once again we were the last to leave the class because we had to expand our answers to get the full credit. I will prepare for test #3 which we are taking on Monday next week.
Today was alright. Oh my goodness, I forgot to check my email last night so I didn't know that our self reflection is due today. It's a good thing that Dr. Rivera said we have until midnight to turn it in. That means I still have hope in getting an A. Well, we got to see our test #2 grade. I'm satisfied with my grade. Aside from that, we went over some excercises and read a little. We were just preparing for our next test, which is coming very soon. Good luck classmates! See you online! :)
Oops! I forgot to blog after Test #2! I'm used to being in the computer lab for every class meeting so that I can be able to blog right away. I thought that Test #2 was a little difficult. I thought I studied well, but I guess not. I was distracted every time I tried to study, especially in the library because people kept coming up to me. I will stop procrastinating and commit more time to studying for English class. I thought that since Test #1 was easy, Test #2 would be the same. I won't underestimate next time.
Test numbah 2
Test number two was hard, and even though I studied, I know that I didn't do very good as I planned. But at least I knew the vocabulary section and I knew that I got at least majority of the test finished. But at that test day, Dr. Rivera told us a way to boost our grade if we didn't do good on the two tests we did. She told us to help out with the language art meetings here at U.O.G. and one at a hotel. And I was relieved that day because I knew that I didn't do good on both tests, and at least I don't have to worry too much about failing, but I'm not going to rely on that extra credit, I'm going to do the work that was assigned to me. But yes, thank God for extra credit and thanks Dr. Rivera for giving us a chance to pass this class.
Huff! huff!
I've been trying to catch up with my assignments in the last two weeks and it's all caused by procrastination. And now I'm really feeling it now because as I mentioned before, I'm trying to keep up with everybody at the same time. So lately, I don't have time to myself anymore all because I didn't do my work. So right now I'm just working like crazy just to pass this class. I wish I've never done this but if I pass this class this semester, I promise not to do things last minute again.
testing....testing
We took our second test on Wednesday. I studied more than I did for the first test, but I didn't feel good about this one. I tried, though, and I will continue to try the rest of the semester. I'm sorry again Dr. Rivera. I will concentrate on your class more than I have been.

Test number 2
Yesterday we took our second test. I found it a little more difficult than the first. There were not as many extra credit questions. I was also confused and found a few questions asking the same thing. I hope I got a good grade.

Test
Well today we took our test # 2. To be really honest I didn't study at all. Though I didnt study i think i did pretty good. I guess that i'm so used to being a procrastinator that I thought that this one would be the same thing for me. I really hope I passed though
Today was a good day! I got my check. Yes, more money! Aside from that, we took our test number 2 and I think I did pretty good. I actually studied hard for this one. I guess you can say, reality hit me. I don't want to procastinate anymore. It's time to get some work done. Well, to be completely honest, I was a bit nervous but I got over it once I saw the questions to the test. It felt like something was clicking! It was a good feeling. Well, after the test we could leave class. Dolores, Andrea, Maria, and I were the last ones to get out. So we double checked our work. I hope you did well too! See you on Monday!

Today for my english class, we talked about exemplification. It tells us how to find a topic and how to write about it. We also took a class picture in the stairs outside the class room in the english building. We also read a paragraph that explains the negative things about dropping out of school to work. We did a few excercises for writting and thats it.
En100
Today in our english class, we learned about Exemplification and it is very interesting. We really learned alot and it's basically just letting us know how to find a topic looking at a picture. We also read a paragraph written by David Levine and he was explaining about a girls life when she dropped out of school. She had so hard when she dropped out and she does everything on her own now. It is very hard now a days trying to find a job without a diploma or a college degree. I know so many people who have dropped out from high school and think that it's so funny and not hard. But then I know so many other people who have dropped out of school and they are having it hard. They would like to go back but they are too embarassed to go back to school and they can't pass their G.E.D. Well see you guys next meeting!

Today in Class
We discussed about Chapter 8: Exemplification: Writing with Examples. This topic is quite interesting because we only have to state diffrent examples of the given topic. There is not much to memorize on. And we red about "Dropping Way Out" and did the exercies 1 and 3. Luckily, I don't have to drop out of school during my highschool years eventhough I am a working. There were times that I feel like I don't want to go school but, dropping out is not an excuse to do so. Goodluck to all of us for the 2nd test this wednesday!:)
Today we took our class picture, but others missed it because they were late. We discussed Chapter 8, Exemplification: Writing with Examples. It consists of using examples to explain, convince, or amuse. The characteristics of good examples are specific, vivid, and conservaive. Lastly, listing and clustering are techniques for finding examples. We did an exercise about finding patterns in photo and discussing the paragraph "Dropping Way out". Time to prepare for our Test #2!
october 18
Today was such a hot day. Well today we started of by taking our class photo. Then we came into class and started our reading. After our reading we had to do exercise 1 and then we did exercise 3. Now were blogging and commenting on each others blogs.
We went over an exercise about a girl dropping out of high school and how it really affected her life. No one should ever drop out of high school no matter how much they dislike going. Even if some graduate late, it's better than never graduating at all. During some parts of our class today, I was making my study guide for our test that's on Wednesday. Hopefully I do better than last test, even though it wasn't that bad.
Sick Day.. ):
So today I wasn't feeling to well. However, I was worst yesterday. I woke up in the middle of the night with a really bad sore throat and a slight fever. I hate that feeling. I got up and I felt so cold and weak. I went to the kitchen to take medcine. I don't even know how or why I'm sick. Anyway, I'm kind of getting better now. But it's not a 100%. I really didn't want to go to school today though. If I didn't have a test for my last class I wouldn't have. I wanted to go home after that class because I still have a really bad headache and I just want to lay down right now. But my dad didn't want to take me home after that class! So I decided to just come to our class. It's a good thing we didn't really do much. I can't really think right now with a headache and all. But yeah for class, we finally took our class picture then we just went over chapter 8 and did the exercises. Then Dr.Rivera reminded us about our test on Wednesday which is on chapters 5-7. After that we just did our blog and that was about it for today. Study for the test guys! I hope we all do good!!
"School is cool"
Does anyone remember hearing that when they were in middle school? Well, apparently it is true considering what we just read in class. This is because we read how a high school drop out got her dreams crushed when she was refused from her dream job, was forced to wake up earlier, do the worst jobs possible at a gas station, have a lot of her hard earned money go to a taxi instead of her own possible car, and just not having the awesome experience that she thought she would have. Luckily, for us, we are in college, and will hopefully get the job we want, but Beth did not get what she wanted. She wanted independence in terms of doing whatever whenever she wanted to do it with no one to answer to, but she found out different. Independence is about being responsible, and ready to work for what we want, and includes answering to our boss. So, stay in school, work hard, and be thankful for your weekends.
Class picture
Today we took our class picture. I wish we all could've been in it. Maybe next week we can take another class pic. The lesson today was pretty easy. I really enjoyed deciphering that very action packed picture. I can't wait for the test on Wednesday. I hope there are just as much if not more extra credit questions:)
October 18, 2010
I forgot to moodle Wednesday. I was too cheered up because I didn't have class and I keep forgetting that moodle days are just as important as regular class days. I was late to class today too. And I missed the picture taking but I wasn't the only one. Luckily there's a next time for the class picture. We just went over Chapter 8 and did two exercises. We talked about dropping out of high school and other things. We also discussed our next test which is this Wednesday. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully, everyone does good on the test.
Oct 18, 2010
Today in class we learned the patterns of exemplification. Exemplification is using examples to explain, convince, or amuse. Basically, exemplification is writing with examples. After that we did exercises in our book and answered them as a class.
LOL Smiley Face
Today was picture day. I felt so undressed standing next to all you beautiful people. After the picture was taken, the real lesson started. We read "Exemplification: Writing with Examples". It was basically teaching us to write with examples to explain what story is about. It was pretty basic, so it went by fast. Dr. Rivera also reminded us about the Moodle Sessions. I believe i missed about 2 or 3. I promise to you, Dr. Rivera, I will do them from now on because I love your class and you are AWESOME! Yes, I am shouting over the internet because it is true.
Today, we took our class picture but we weren't complete. We also learned something new which is exemplification. Exemplification is using examples to explain, convince, or amuse. We learned how to narrow our examples down by being specific, vivid, and conservative. Also you can use the techniques we already know such as listing and clustering to find more examples. We read an example in the book which centered on how important staying in school is. Without an education and a diploma the opportunities you thought we available for you might not be available in the end. We have a test next class period so good luck and study well classmates.
Examplification
Today I felt like tired and wanted to sleep, but that did not stop me from learning. Today we learned about examples in a story. These examples were used to suppport the main topic of a story. Also the one thing that got to me the most today was reading this story in our book today. It was about dropping out of high school and getting a job, and it's not good, because you are not educated to apply for any job. So it's a good thing I graduated, and I got my diploma. And also we talked about test number two coming up this wednesday, and I hope I pass this one because I need it.
Exemplification
Today's class was all about writing an essay with examples, commonly known as exemplification. This is a very useful tool. As far as I am concern, most jobs require you to write materials using specified examples. When a doctor is writing a dissertation, they must have examples for the reader to better understand the storyline. When attorneys write letters to explain a situation they quote past court cases. I enjoyed today's session.
I GOTTA STEP IT UP
I have missed class quite a bit. I have not made it due to some issues that i can not bring up here on blog. I am now doing my best to not miss class anymore and do what i have to do to get my act together. I enjoy this class and I am actually learning. I love you Dr. Rivera!
Today we had a class photo and I am glad i was here on time. Because it would have been horrible if i didn't get into the picture. I mean, if i wasn't there, then there shouldn't be a picture at all. But i made it so everything turned out great. Thank you Dom Uson for informing me about this class picture. You are a life saver and a awesome pokemon gym leader. I look forward to challenging you soon. So get my badge ready because I'm going to be stepping it up. Elite Four here I come!!!

Today was interesting. We took our class picture today! I wasnt ready for it, but its okay. Well, we went over two exercises. The first one was kind of mind boggling. The picture was so cluttered. I dont know, for some odd reason I feel really tired that usually. I feel like falling asleep right now. It sucks having a class so late in the day. Unfortunately, the next time we meet will me in our classroom. So, no moodle day! Instead, we have a test! I need to study, see you soon.
Photoshoot!
Well today happened to be a good day for our class. In the begining of class, we took a picture of the EN 100 class on the Staircase of the English and comminications building. In my own opinion, I thought it was schorching hot due to the wheather and wearing two shirts. I thought the picture was great considering two of our classmates wasn't able to make the picture. Sorry Dae and Tony! Then in class, we did two exercises that dealt with the chapter of exemplification. The whole class time I had a headache and just tried to do something to make the pain go away.
Moodle
We had to discuss Shastri's essay and it was about how tradition and customs are very important to her parents. Even though she lived in America, her home was not far away. I believe that she should be able to make her own decisions so that she can be happy. Her essay was very detailed and you were able to understand the mother's feelings because it is implied.

Wednesday's Moodle
This Wednesday's moodle session required us to talk about Shastri's essay, and how her mother cried. I know that I do not want to see my mother cry, and Shastri definitely did not like to see her mother crying. The average person would rather see the people they love happy and smiling, and not crying sadly. So, hold onto the happy memories.
Me, Myself, and I
Our essays entitled, "All about me," was given to us on Monday, and it made me think that that essay is probably one of the only times that we can go on and on about ourselves. This is because, if we just started having a conversation just about ourselves, then the person or people we are talking to would think we are being conceited- majority of us would think the same thing in their shoes. So, that was our chance to be self-centered without sounding conceited.

Silly Me ;)
So i totally forgot to blog again for our last class. I was such in a rush that day that I did my moodle room late at night on Wednesday. Therefore, forgetting about our blog. I just remembered now that I went back online today. For online class we just had to reflect about Shastri's paper and that was about it.

Moodle
Today we had a Moodle session. I stayed home after school and took a nice long nap:) I enjoyed the short paragraph that we had to read. I wish I could relate to how she felt because I'd like to give her some advice. Tradition and Modern society don't go well together. I still tend to lean towards some traditional ways, but I'm adapting to a more modern individual. This small paragraph made me think so much about my culture and family. It was very heartfelt and short, so I liked it.
Moodle
I'm so happy that I did not forget to go moodle. Anyways, I red about Shastri's essay, and how she wanted to have an arranged marriage. It is actually true that when you have a certain custom, you really have to follow it no matter what. Eventhough it's against us, but there is nothing we can do about it. Being in another country does not mean that you can get out of your fate, and follow your own desire. I pity Shastri so much because she will not have the freedom to choose her own love. I am lucky that my family do not have that kind of custom. That's all for now.
moodle session
Today's moodle session was very interesting. It asked us to discuss shastri's essay.
I think that her essay was really convincing. She didn't want to follow her families traditions and now that she lives in a different country she believes that she doesn't have to. Arraged marriage isn't something worth doing you need to be able show the other person that you love them so i strongly agree with her.

Today for class, we met on moodle. We had to read the essay about Shastri and her struggle to break away and have more freedom. While reading her essay, it made me realize that your essay doesn't have to be long to get your point stressed. All you need to do is simply get straight to your main topic of the essay and support it. I really enjoyed reading her essay and I hope to read more just like hers. See you all in class on Monday, have a good weekend.

Rainy Day
Well today started out kind of bad. I woke up totally early but I didnt have to go to class because our teacher isn't back from his vacation. Then I had to go to my observation class which was really boring. Then I had to go home and wait until 3:30 to leave again for my EN100 class. I always enjoy going to this class. We read about descriptive narration. It was very interesting. Then we did 2 exercises and now we have to blog and comment on our classmates blogs.
Today was a rainy day. I hate rainy days, sometimes. I tend to get colder than usual. It was a good thing that our class was warm, or else I'll be freezing! Well, class was pretty fun. However, there was only a little of us. First of all, we took some notes and did a couple of excercises. My classmate Anthony Quitigua, volunteered me! Thanks Tony, you're so cool. Anyways, we got our test back. I'm suprised it did so good. Lucky thing, the extra credit was there. Honestly, that helped me out a lot. That's all for now, see you online next time!
Patents
Today's class discussed about Narrative Essays. In a narrative essay, one must be clear and concise in their description. You do not have to specify every single detail, rather specific enough to paint the picture for your audience to visualize. You may use either concrete or abstract detail, or maybe even both.
In today's exercise, I experienced that plagiarism is horrible. At the same time, it is not plagiarism unless the written material has a patent. During today's exercise, I had a classmate who, not copied, but was "influenced" by my work that this person decided to use something EXTREMELY similar. Luckily, this classmate did not complete the exercise, hence our work was not as similar. I had fun during today's class. >;D

October 11
Today was another day in the computer lab. We went over a new chapter and some new stuff with Descriptive Narration. Situation, conflict, and struggle was what it was all about today in class. I also got my test back and I did better than I expected, but still should have done better. Guarantee our next test, my grade will be better.
October 11, 2010
It's not that hot today because it's pretty cold outside. Today we went over our test scores, and I was pretty happy with the grade i got. After we went over the test, we discussed Chapter 7. It's pretty weird because now that we got our test from last week, we just learned that we have a test coming up next week. Luckily, the book breaks it down at the end of each chapter so it's easier to study. We did a couple of exercises, and we went to our blog.
Today in class, we received our results from our first test. We went over every answer so that we could find out the answers to our mistakes. Not only did we discuss the test but we also started on a new topic. We discussed descriptive narration which can also be broken down into narrative, narrative patterns, verb tenses, point of view, dialogue, and description. To make sure that we understood what was taught to us, we had to complete exercises 2 and 4 to help us better understand the topic more clearly. We also found out that we have a test next week Wednesday covering chapters 5 through 7. I better start studying this weekend and good luck to all of you as well.
Rainy Day
It was another one of those days where the weather is so very cold. But I love it when it rains. I was actually freezing in my last class. I really wish I brought a jacket to school today. It was good thing that in our class it wasn't as cold. Anyway, for class we had our discussion on chapter
7 which was about descriptive narrative. We also got our test #1 back today. I did really well. I hope you all did good too. So after our discussion we did the exercises and shared them. That was about it for today.

The sky wept vigorously
Extra credit for use of personification!:D The rain made me really tired, so I almost didn't make it to class on time today. I thought today's lesson was fun and interesting. We started on chapter 7 today. It was about Descriptive Narration. I understood the subject matter fairly well. The exercises were appealing too. I had a great time rewording those sentences.
Sunday, October 10, 2010
Today we went over our previous test which was not so much of a good thing because I did not do as well as I should have. We also went over various writing patterns. Such patterns include the situation, conflict, struggle, outcome, and the meaning. Today was a very productive day because along with all these exercises we also practiced working on our word choice.
Today's Class
I feel tired today because of the fact that the rainy afternoon made me feel this way. Today we dicuss about the types of description. Dr. Rivera made us read about the techniques of descriptive writing, situation, conflict, struggle, outcome and meaning on the book. we even did the exercise, and I don't have any idea for exercie 2, but I have more ideas on exercise 3. Anyway, today's class was okay and fair. See you guys next class! Ciao!
Rainy Monday
We recieved our Test #1 in the beginning of class and I am happy with my grade. The studying did pay off. We went over Chapter 7, which is about Descriptive Narration. We reviewed about Narrative Patterns that consist of the situation, conflict, struggle, outcome and meaning, then Verb Tense, Point of View, Dialouge, Order, and Descriptive Patterns. Test #2 is just right around the corner and I'm hoping to do as well as the last test.
We found out our grades for Test #1 and reviewed the answers. It is important to make sure we have the correct answers because the Final Exam covers all the chapters we went over and contents from our previous tests. We then went over a new chapter which is about Descriptive Narration. We read aloud and did the exercises which helped us to be more decriptive and allowed us to write better. Test #2 is next week Wednesday which covers Chapters 5,6, and 7. This time I will make sure I spend more time studying.
New chapter
Today we moved in chapter 7 in our book. It's has a lot of things that can be useful to us, especially if we need to pass the second test. It talks about desriptive narration, narrative pattrerns, verb tense, point of view, dialogue, types of description, and more. Basically we covered the most important points in the book. I hope I can do well on the test. Even though if I study I still don't pass, maybe because I spend too much time on question and do not do the rest. But I feel confident this time.
What a Day
Today is Monday and instead of being a blue Monday, it is a rainy Monday. I notice that there were alot of students that are absent today because I finally can find myself a parking lot in the front. I am happy to be back to our class and I was terrified when I see my test grade. I wished that I could do alot better on the next test.
The Gods Are Angry
Today in EN-100, we reviewed our test. I am so happy with the grade I recieved. Lets just say I am happy I didn't fail. Afterwards, we started reading Chapter 7. There were things about narration, verb tenses, point of view, dialogue, and types of description. Dr. Rivera noted that there is going to be a test next week wednesday. I will make sure to study for this one.
Dark Monday
Today, was a very dark day. I say this because not only did the gray clouds make it dark, but Rai Rios did not show up to class. When Rai doesn't show up to class all the happiness in the room fails to show up as well.
Besides Rai, the weekend just happened to make my Monday seem like any other weekend. It was like body was in class but my head wasn't. For some reason, all these things have accumalated to make October 11, 2010.... Dark Monday. (dark and ominous tunes)

Moodle
Well, I honestly almost forgot about blogging. It's now 11:14pm on my watch and good thing I remember the moodle session yesterday. We have to read Leah's essay, and it is so organize. I can say that it is so good reading her essay because everything is so perfect, and I could read it clearly. I just hope I can do the same thing she's doing. You know how laziness got me sometimes. Okay, until here for now.

So much to do so little time
Well to start off, I have a lot of homework, I don't have time to myself, and I'm tired. But I'm still on my two feet, and I've been thinking how to motivate myself. I think of what accomplishments I'm going to make if I do my work. I think that fours years or more in college and all the sacrifices I make now will all pay off. I procrastinate a lot so right now I'm in a tight spot, and trying to catch up. I learned my lesson to not do this same mistakes again.
Leah's essay was well written and effectively described her topic. She used the major writing processes such as free writing, brainstorming, clustering, and the other important ones. Leah also went through many drafts of her essay, making sure it was perfect. Leah's approach is the ideal way of the "essay process". Her essay was great and I enjoyed it. I just wish I can do what she does.
Today we met on moodle again. Today, we had to read Leah's essay which I thought was very organized. She followed the writer's worksheet which to me was very useful because by following every step she was able to gather all the information she needed to compose her paper. In my opinion, if I follow the writer's worksheet I can produce an organized essay just like Leah. I'm excited to see you all in class Monday.
The forum for our online session today was about Leahs essay using the Writing Process. I think learning about the Writing Process and Leahs essay will help me with future work because it's really good and it makes a lot of sense. It shows that it works because just reading essays that are written using the Writing Process looks very good and they're easier to understand.
Moodle sessions are the best:)
I love Moodle sessions:) Today we read and looked over Leah's essay. I found her essay to be very neat and tidy. I think I am going to start doing all three steps instead of just skipping some. It might actually help me progress faster. Reading her essay made me wonder if there are any Native American groups on island that practice such exercises.
Moodle Days....
Moodle days are awesome. After school during the day, i don't have to go to class. My day is pretty much done, besides homework and stuff. Moodle days really help because first quarter is ending for school and there are many deadlines for projects and assignments. The moodle class today was pretty simple. We just had to share our thoughts on Leah's essay, and that was pretty much it. All we have to wait for is Monday. Hopefully we did good on our test.
Rainy day
I have a class at 7:00 PM so I still have to come to school, but our moodle really help me with the time that I have lost in my other classes. We met online today dealing with Leah's essay, I really learned alot from this essay. Well see you in class and God bless you all.
:)
Today was our usual online class. I'm kind of glad we had it today. I had so much homework to do for my other classes. So our online class gave me time to do them. It really sucked though. I don't like doing homework, but I have to. Anyway, for our moodle session we had to discuss our thoughts about Leah's essay and the way she followed the steps of the writing process to create her final draft.
So today was good. I really enjoyed it. I would like to call it my "resting" day. So, we met online, which really took some time off my hands. Honestly, I almost forgot to do it. Lucky thing, my best friend Maria reminded me. Thanks best! So, I just finished moodling, and we had to talk about Leah's essay. In my opinion, she did a really good job following the steps. Well see you on
What's your name?
I just finished with the moodle room, and decided to do my blog now, but while I wrote my reply on moodle, I couldn't help but wonder, why the author chooses the names he or she does when writing a text book. Do, they get one of those baby name books, and just put their finger on some random name while some other person flips through the pages, or do they just pull a name out of a hat? Where do names come from? Have you ever just said your name and thought of the way it sounds? It may seem weird, but what made us decide to put these sounds together to mean this thing?
Other than that, we were supposed to reply on our perception of Leah's essay and how she did it. I thought that she did a very good job, and I believe that I would not have followed the writing process, but still have done well.

moodle session
Well today's moodle was interesting. It asked us to discuss Leah's essay. The way she started her essay got me thinking that maybe if I followed the three stages I could become a better writer. I love writing but sometimes my writings don't make sense and now I know that I should concentrate more on my writing and less on being a procrastinator.
TEST es Day
Wow! Was I the only one who thought the test made sick. The first time hearing about the test was the week before, but then i forgot about it and started studying the morning of the test. Then when the test came around I had this huge ass headache and i felt like throwing up. I would really call it the worst day so far. But as a consolation my mommy and daddy took care of me when I got home. So it all worked out okay.
Monday, October 4, 2010
Oh my, we had our first test today. I hope I did good, and that goes to the rest of my classmates. I was cramming before class so I'm curious to know what I'm going to get. Well after the test, we were allowed to leave class. However, the four of us stayed back. Well, thats all. See you all in moodle room.
Test #1
We took our first test for EN100 and I thought it was alright. If I studied better and spent more time going over the book it would have been much easier, but overall I think I did fine. Now that I know how the test is like, I will be prepared for the next one and I now know what to expect. iI hope everyone passed. See you all in the moodle room!
Today for class we took our first test. I thought the test was good and my studying should have helped me. At first, I struggled answering some questions but I realized that I just had to look over it and I would know the answer. Also, I used the technique of looking at the other questions to find the answers to the ones you are struggling with. Overall, the test was good and I hope I passed and got a good grade. See you all on moddle.
Sunday, October 3, 2010
I forgot to blog for the online moodle session. We were asked if we think the Writing Process Worksheet is effective and I think that it is because it helps the writer to produce a good essay. It requires freewriting, brainstorming, clustering, and gathering information. Using these methods will help you to write an excellent essay.
Test day
Well today we took our first test and hopefully I pass. I think it would of been much easier if I had studied more instead of procrastinating about it. I know for the next test we have I'm gonna be prepared. I always tend to procrastinate on my work and my studying and I know that I have to change my study habits and try and find one that best works for me. Being a procrastinator isn't such a good thing.
Test #1 (:
Test #1 was today! It was pretty good. I am so glad its over! Its a good thing I really studied for it. I spent the past two hours right before class in the library studying for this test. Hopefully, I get an A and I hope you all did well too! Anyways after that we had to blog and then we could leave class.
Today's Test
Today's test is fair but, there are some questions that I didn't go over and have forgotten about it. There are also some questions that I don't understand quiet well. I could say that I do good in the matching type and the true and false questions. I did only one extra credit, and I hope that I don't fail on my first test. Well, I just have to see on what will I get for the test. Next time, I will really go over everything so I won't forget again:)
Test Day!
We took our first test today, and it was fairly easy. But I have to say there are some of the questions that got me stuck. The short answers was actually my weak point throughout the whole entire test. Hopefully by me answering the extra credit it will make my grade just a bit higher. I can honestly say that I should have studied harder. Well good luck everyone hope you did good!
Winged It
Today was the class's first test. Me being the procrastinator, did not study until one hour before the test. I was not getting any information stuck to my brain, so i decided to wing it. I believe I did okay, but I am for sure going to study for the next test. I am sorry I let you down, Dr. Rivera. :*(
Test Day
Today we took our first test and it seemed a little complicated. There was a lot of information that we had to know in order to do good on our test.
Whew! again...
I took my first test in english class today. I feel pretty confident because I did study, and I had help with my mom. I was worried at first, because when I take tests I usually end up going back and forth. Meaning I second guess my first answer and end confusing myself, and end up putting the wrong answer. Or I take long on one question and I forget to answer the others. But I learned that your first answer is your best one, and it's not good to keep going back, because if you do you'll get caught up with that one or few questions. Thank You God!
If quizzes derived from quizzical, then tests must have derived from.....
Pardon the silly title. :D So today we had the first test of the semester. I studied for quite a while today. I felt the test was fairly easy. The extra credit was very entertaining and gave me a sense of hope for passing with a high grade. I can't believe I forgot the class blog URL! I wonder if that sentence would've been a better title? Anyway, after I've had a sample of the first test, I look forward to the future ones.
Todays test was very challenging and the feeling of being unprepared settled in. I felt as if my studying skills were not as effective as I had hoped for. The main part of the test that caused the most trouble for me was the short answer section. I am thankful that Dr.Rivera made an extra credit section.
Test #1
The test that we took today was rather easy. Had I studied well, I probably would have retrieved an A. However, due to the fact that I could not study well, I am most fearful that I failed the test. I have no one to blame but myself, not that I would blame someone else. I just cannot believe that until now, my pell grant has not been reviewed! Without my pell grant, I do not have ANY of my textbooks, therefore, I have to come up with a system with my friends so that I would be able borrow their book, do my work, and read the material. I will ensure that I will NEVER let another mishap like this EVER occur again. We live and we learn, and I learned the hard way.
So, now that I am aware of how Professor Rivera does her test, I am sure I will pass next time. :)
So, now that I am aware of how Professor Rivera does her test, I am sure I will pass next time. :)
A+ for everyone
Breath a sigh of relief, stretch your arms to the sky, and say, "I'm done!" You just finished your test, so cross your fingers, and lets all wish for an A- or should I say A+. I know I want that awesome A. So, best of wishes to everyone. Also, don't you just love extra credit? (Thank you for the extra credit Professor Rivera.)
Test
I was sure about some of my answers on our test today, but there were some questions that really got me. It was harder than I expected it to be. I guess I didn't study as much because there were a lot of questions I really weren't sure about. At least I know how the tests will be for the rest of the semester and I'm going to have to study more and dig deep into the details in the textbook and the notes.
Test #1
We had a test today, and it was fairly easy. If you studied, then you would've breezed through the test. What i really liked about the test was the extra credit section. That should have saved me from really doing bad on the test. Hopefully when i see a grade on my test, it'll be a good one.
First Test
Today was our first test. It was only four chapters, very easy, but I still took the time to study all day for it. I think I did well but I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best. There was matching, fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answers, and Extra Credit, my favorite. The extra credit would be somewhat of help. I did not get to answer all but for the ones I did answer, I'm sure of. I'm hoping for a good grade on this test. It will prove that all the studying was worth it because I don't usually study for exams or test. Good luck everyone!
Test day
For today class we took our first test. I was very surprised when i saw the test. I think i shouldve spent more time studying during the weekend. The multiple choice and true and false was pretty fine with me. I found the short answer questions really hard since i didnt study much on most of what it was talking about. Well at least now i know i should study more often.
Test Day
The test was easy to understand. But if I at least looked over some of my notes, then maybe I would get a better grade. Everything that was on the test was stuff we went over in class. I remember everything, just not in great detail. To be honest I forgot we had a test. This is the consequence i have to face for doing such a thing. But now I have learned from my mistakes and will do better on the next test. Because if i don't, then i guess I am in deep trouble.
So, last class was an online session. Normally, I would blog on the same day but I dont know what happened? It wasn't working with me at the time, so I gave up. However, I moodled on wednesday, so I'm good. Well tomorrow is our test. I'm pretty nervous, but I'm sure I'll do fine. Good luck classmates! (:
