Today for class we completed the entire book. We discussed the Handbook which helps us write effective sentences. We learned the different parts of speech such as nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions and did exercises to help us gain a better understanding of the subject. We also touched on subjects and verbs and how they can be interchanged in order. Lastly, we discussed the different kinds of sentences like simple, compound, compound complex, and complex. We learned a lot today and I know it'll help me in the future. Happy early birthday! See you next class!

We are done!

We just finished the last chapter in our books today. We read about the parts of speech and did some excersises to double check what we read. We also did a teacher evaluation for Professor Rivera, and read over the list of things that people are brinig for the party at the end of the semester. Now we just need to do our exams, and watch some technological exam alternatives on our exam day for extra credit. Good luck to everyone on their exams!
Today we finally finished the book and went over Writing Effective Sentences. We discussed the eight parts of speech and did exercises. We also discussed combining sentences and verbs. Dr. Rivera had to step outside because we had to do an evaluation and I am sure she had positive remarks. Our co-chair announced what each person is bringing for our class potluck and I was not aware that I was going to bring pancit, thanks to Dolores and Monica. Hopefully people do not forget to bring what they are supposed to. Exam is due next week! I better get started on my poems. Also, HAPPY advanced BIRTHDAY DR. RIVERA!!!!!

Handbook

PARTS OF SPEECH! I have never realized that there were eight parts of speech. I merely thought there were only four; nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, conjunctions, preposition, and interjections. I have to fully understand all of these for I do not. I know the basic nouns, verbs, and adjectives; but the others makes it a little bit difficult. Basically, in this chapter, we were learning the basics.
Unfortunately, its our last chapter. The next class is final exam day and then the last day of class is the pot luck party. It is so sad! I am going to miss this class. Hopefully, my next English is not as difficult than this class.

Chicken!

Today we read a bit of the handbook. I skimmed through the rest of the book and saw that there are more than 50 exercises! Other than the book work, we also had our class evaluation today. Don't worry Dr. Rivera, I put in a lot of good comments about you:) I am nearly finished with my poems. I can't wait to share them with the class!

December 1, 2010

Today we were in the computer lab. It's been awhile since we have been here. Anyway, we had our regular class discussion. For today we went over chapter 17, the handbook. We did some exercises. Then Dr. Rivera reminded us about the upcoming dates. Next week, Monday, is our final exam or our projects are due. We also have our party coming up which will be on our last day, December 13. That was about it for today.

Evaluation

Today, we went over Chapter 17: Handbook, which started off by discussing two simple principles that are context of communication and the eight parts of speech. The chapter was just reviewing what we learned and it kind of refreshed my memory of what we learned in previous English classes. We did an evaluation for the course which took rather long, and we basically finished off the chapter. There was a lot of information and I just realized I have to study all of this for the final exam. I wanted to do the 10 poems but I know I would not have time for it. Hopefully, all goes well. I was quite surprised that class went by quick. Although, I'm ready to finish off the day.
Today was a good day. The weather was wonderful! It wasn't too cold and it wasn't to hot. I loved it. First of all, we did an evaluation and Dr. Rivera had to step out of class. After, we read and went over the 8 parts of speech, which are nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepostions, conjunctions, and interjections. We also did some exercises, and it made me realized I need to go over the 8 parts of speech again. We finshed the book! Aside from that, next week, monday, is our final exam. I decided to do the 10 poems, and I am happy to say that I am almost done. Well, that's it for today! See you next week and I hope you have a good weekend!

Evaluation

Today was very concerning due to the accents in the classroom. Me and started earlier today trying to perfect our British accents. Then when we came into class today we started doing it then Rai jumped in on our accent switching too. It was more funny when Rai did but me and Dom had our time of laughs in the library. What really caught me off guard was when Rai changed his again to more of a southern accent. That was really the funniest accent he had in his arsenal. In class we went over Chapter 17 which contained the different types of speech: Nouns, Pronouns ,Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Perpositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections.

Parts of speech

Today in class we learned about different types of speeches. Nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. So we were learning also where to put it in, and which is which. It's pretty confusing especially with the prepositions and the adverbs. Also we were reminded that the end of the semester is coming soon before hand, so that means that we'll all be busy in the last two weeks. To include we were also filling out a evaluation form about our professors, and I know Dr. Rivera is a good teacher. So to conclude, I wish you all the best for the final exam.

Hip Hip Toodoolydoo

Today was nice. Walked into class after an awesome bathroom break. Today in class we read about the 8 parts of speech. The parts are nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections. We then did an exercise, which we breezed through. I wrote 6 poems so far. Writing poems is harder than i thought.

Last Class

Last class was rather long. We discussed the persuasive writing and how to write a research paper. We discussed two long chapters. First, we did activities to better our understanding in persuasive writing. Once we were done, we discussed what is required in a research paper. We did a few exercises, such as how to properly cite sources and how to use notecards.
Before class had begun, we also talked about the different ways we can do our final exam. Thankfully, writing poems was one of them. It made my life easier. I do love to write poems. My freshman year has become somewhat easier.

12/01/10

Today we went through Chapter 17 which was the handbook. We learned about the 8 parts of speech and other things. Then we did a teacher evaluation where Dr. Rivera had to step out of class. We filled it in and then she came in. After that, we continued reading and came across an exercise. I found out it pretty hard because English is hard for me, for the most part. Then we went through the list for our party!

Failing is not an option

Lately I have been really slacking on my school work and it is embarrassing that it takes me the entire semester to realize that I am not doing well. But I do know have the brains to past this class. It is my laziness that drags me down. But now a days everyone is lazy. But I should not be like everyone else. I should be my own person and really expand as an individual. I have problems, but not big ones, just little ones!

Writing the Reseach Paper

In class Monday, We discussed about writing a research paper and the steps that needs to be taken in order to write a decent paper. Then later on during class I volunteered to do a problem from the book on the board. I only did it because Dolores asked me to and I wanted to see how I would do. In the end, I messed up terribly and got many parts of the answer wrong. Lastly Mrs. Rivera asked us how many of us would want to do the poems instead of the essay. I was encouraged by Davilyn to do the poems instead of the Exam.
Good Day for me now I gotta write 10 poems!
In our Monday class, we went over a lesson dealing with research. A research outline is helpful because it is an easy-to-understand format. We did some exercises to change a standard outline of information into a research outline. It deals with a topic, finding the sources, and taking notes.
This Monday, almost eveyone signed up for what they want to bring on the last day of school. We also stated what we wanted to do for our final exam, and it sounded like majority of the class want to do the ten poems option. Also, we read and did excersis- one of which involved MLA (Modern Language Association).

Chapter 16

Today we learned about Citing works. It was the last chapter in the book. I learned a lot about citations and forms of MLA citing. I found it hard at first, but I caught on pretty fast. I left my book today, so I had to share one with Dolores. Thank you!
I was not able to attend class today so I hope I did not miss out on a lot of work. I read over the ten steps to writing a research paper. It includes selecting a topic, finding sources, listing sources, taking notes, refining your thesis and outline, writing and revising your drafts, and submitting the required materials. I looked over the different ways in which you can cite your sources. For the final exam, I think I'll also choose to do the ten peoms even though I'm not that talented in writing peoms. Hopefully my ideas just come to me.

Today at Class

We did alot of things today and some students volunteered to do the exercises. I laughed so hard when one of my classmate kept sneezing everytime he writes on the board because of his allergy to the chalk dust. Oh well, I feel a kind of pity for him. I also have an allergy to chalk dust too.
I really liked the topic about the MLA form. It is like a kind of puzzle for me because we have to write the proper format to fit its desired arrangement. Next was the Research Paper topic. I am thankful because the book gave us an example on how to do the research paper. I have the idea now on where to start with.
See you all next class!
Today was a good day. Unfortunately, Andrea couldn't stay for class. Well, we went over the MLA again. We also did a couple of exercises and did some note taking. I also volunteered and went up to the board. Anyways, I feel horrible because I didn't turn in my hard copy for my self reflection. My grade is going to go down, and I'm not satisfied with it now. I hope I can still try and get the grade I want. See you next time!
Today was a very productive class period. It was quite fun and everyone got a chance to read during class. We discussed the ten steps into writing a research paper. We also discussed the MLA format at the different ways to cite your sources dealing with different work materials. We also did a lot of exercises to help us better understand the topic discussed. Today, we also had to inform Dr. Rivera on what our choice of action was dealing with our final exam, I chose to write the 10 poems. I usually struggle with writing poems so I'm hoping my imagination will take its toll and help me with this task. The semester is coming to an end and I'm doing good in class and hope to keep it that way. See you all in the computer lab on Wednesday!
Well today's class was very interesting. We did a lot of exercises today. We talked about taking notes. Then she explained a little bit about the exam and what the options are. I chose to do the 10 poems because i enjoy doing poems. Then we were able to go home.

Student Paragraph and essay

Today we learned mostly about writing a research paper. There are ten steps to help you write a reserach paper, one is select a topic, this step helps you to find what topic you are going to write about. Two is to find sources, this step is to help you find sources that will help you to write your paper. Three is to list sources, this step tells you to list your sources in the preliminary bibliography, and the works cited list. Four is to take notes, this step is to help you to take notes when you need to know the main ideas. Five is refine your thesis and outline, this step is helps you refine your thesis statement and it narrows down what you are planning to write. Six is to write your first draft, this step helps to write out your first draft and it gives you an idea of what and how you are going to write your paper. Seven is revise your first draft, this step is self explanatory, this step is to help you correct your first draft and to look if there is any errors, for example: spelling errors, punctuation, awkward sounding sentences, etc. Eight is to prepare your work cited section, this step basically tells you to list your sources down used to help write your paper. Nine is to write your final draft, this step is to write your final paper. And ten is submit required materials, this step generally is to make sure you got all the requirements down and to turn it in.

11/29/10

So class today was fun! We had a lot of exercises to do. We had a class discussion on writing the research paper. We went over the MLA formats of listing sources and we also went over taking notes. We did a bunch of examples on the board. Then Dr. Rivera went over the options for our final exam. I am definitely doing the 10 poems. It is so much easier. I like writing poems instead of taking an exam. We also talked about our pot lock. Apparently we will be having a lot of chips that day! That was about it for class.

In class (Poems)

I am very inspired by the poems that I read from the micronesianpoetsclub.blogspot.com and the guampoetsclub.blogspot.com there are alot of amazing and loving poems. I never know Dr. Rivera would be such famous and amazing, I only knows her as a teacher and a Doctor not that much. Anyways Dr. Rivera I am so proud of you and congradulations.

Moodle

I got the email sent by Dr. Rivera, and I've decided to take the exam instead. Honestly, I don't have the mind to think of good ideas this time. I'll just have to study like I used to. On moodle, the topic was about Argumentation.
Arguments are persuasion on a topic about which reasonable people disagree.  Arguments involve controversy. An example is, "It is illegal for a stranger to enter someone's home uninvited. Firefighters enter people's homes uninvited, therefore firefighters are breaking the law."
Problem: The exception does not break nor define the rule; a dicto simpliciter ad dictum secundum quid (where an accountable exception is ignored).
I really liked this topic so much. It gives sense of understanding and critic.

Moodle Me!

This past Wednesday we were reqired to write a moodle assignment about the writing style; argument. When I was writing the assignment, it was like the book took the words right out of my mouth when I was about to write it down. If there's anyone in the world that knows anything about arguments it would have to be me. Arguing is more of an art for me than some writing style.
Our online session was about arguments. An argument is caused by reasonable people disagreeing on a topic and it involves controversy. An example that I used is people for and against the military buildup. There will be arguments on this issue because it will have a big impact on the people of Guam and the community.

Moodle Argument

Wednesday's moodle was about what an argument is and an example of an argument. So, everyone pretty much wrote that argument is persuasion on a topic about which reasonable people disagree, and then gave an example. The example ranged from Harry Potter to the chicken or the egg theory. So does is Harry Potter one of the best book/movie series, and does the chicken or the egg come first?

Poems, Story or Exam?

This Monday, we were given the option of doing ten poems or a 40 page story instead of taking an Exam. It sounded like the majority of the class, who were leaning away from the exam, were in favor of doing ten poems instead of a 40 page story, but I was a little intrigued by doing a story. I don't know if I really do want to do the story option, but, for now, it's an alternative to the exam.
Happy Thanksgiving! Yesterday we learned that an argument is persuasion on a topic about which reasonable people to think in a certain way or to do something. It involves controversy. They can be formal or informal.
I apologize that I didn't moodle and blog on the right time. My Internet was down, so there wasn't much I could do. Well, we talked about arguments and listed some examples! It was a good day today and Happy Thanksgiving! God bless you and your family! See you in class!

Thanksgiving Break!

Hey everyone! I forgot to moodle yesterday, but it is better late than never, right? Anyway, this semester is coming to an end. It sucks, I actually liked this class. Oh well, it's Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a great day with your families! I'll see you all in class on Monday.

MOODLE

Happy thanks giving day to all of you, moodle day really helps me alot with time because I get to have some free time with my other homework. Today on the moodle we discussed the topic on Argument and every one came up with good examples, I used the two parties that as an examples like Calvo/Tenorio and Guiterrez/Aquon. People were choosing which party to agree on.

Moodle

Today we learned about arguments. I wish arguments never existed. I wish everyone could just get along! :) The example I put was, What came first? The chicken or the egg? . This argument is but a minor one.

HAPPY EARLY THANKSGIVING

Great it's moodle session today. I enjoy moodle sessions because it gives me a lot of free time. For today's moodle session we had discuss and give examples of arguments. Anything could be argued no matter what the topic is as long as you do research  on it. The example I gave is whether Twilight is better than Harry Potter.

Nov 24, 2010

Today we had to moodle about Arguments. Argument is persuasion on topic about which resonable people disagree. Alot of controversy is usually involved in arguments. Arguments happen everyday over many different issues. Arguments help people figure out what the best solution.

Argument

In Moodle, we discussed about arguments, and it means that it's a persuasion on a certain topic about which people disagree. And it was an interesting topic to read and write about, because this world is always filled with arguments on what to do, or how to do, and other things that people argue about today. Also, Thanksgiving is coming closer and I bet we'll have a great time! I know I would, because tomorrow I'll be stuffing myself like the turkey on the table. But this holiday is also to be thankful for what we have, and sometimes we take advantage of that when we all know that there are other people who don't have it good like us. Anyways, everybody have a nice Thanksgiving and wish you the best on studying fot the final exam.
Today for class we moodled for the last time. I always loved moodle days because it gave me time to catch up on other school work and I'm going to miss it. We had to discuss writing an argument and give an example of the tool. I learned that anything can be arguable as long as you do your research and search for documents and reasoning to support your argument. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday and have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

monday's blog

Well I totally forgot to blog when I got home. That class was a very interesting session we got to find out what were averaging in her class. Then we read about definitions and did some exercises. Then Dr. Rivera gave us some options whether or not to do the test or to write poems, short story,or even a play. After that we were able to go home.

Final Moodle Session

This was the last moodle session for the semester! I'm going to miss our online classes because we did not have to physically go to class. We had to discuss what argument is and give examples of this type of writing. The example that I used was women in combat. There are different reasons and documents supporting whether or not women can play a role in combat. When writing you must have a background, proposition, and support your argument.

Yersterday's Class.

So I didn't get to blog yesterday. I forgot because I was studying for my sociology test, which I had today. Anyway, I just remembered I had to when I was at school today, that is why I'm blogging right now. In class yesterday Dr. Rivera gave us our grade as of right now. I'm doing fine. I just need to turn in the hard copy of one my essays. She also gave us other options besides taking the final exam. The option I really liked was the 10 poems one. I think that it what I'm going to choose. I like writing poems. I would rather do that then take the final exam. Well that is about it. I'll see you all at the next class meeting!

Definition

In today' class, we discussed chapter sixteen "Definitions." We did a few exercises to sharpen our skills in this writing process. Like always, we read and shared our thoughts regarding some of the passages we had to read.
Before class had begun, however, we were told five different options that we could do instead of taking a regular final exam. I was relieved when we had these different options. Luckily, one of those options were one of the things I like to do, which is write poetry. I also write raps and other things, so I am going to try and make those poetic. This a huge burden lifted off of my shoulders.

10 poems it is

Yesterday we got test number four back. We also got our progress reports. I am very content with my grade. I thought about taking the final exam last night, but remembered that I had already written 4 poems for my high school classes. That leaves six more poems. I am going to have fun writing them.

missed to blogged

Yesterday was a full time class we get to covered some excercises and able to see our grades so far. I don't got service at my area yesterday for my internet that is why I did not blogged yesterday. I wish that the decision that I have to make for my final will help me passed this course.
Well in class, we read aloud and did some exercises. We talked about the final exam and how we have a choice to take it or do poems. I believe that's all we did, see you on moodle day!
Today for class, we discussed the Writing Process Worksheet completed by Linda Wong as well as going over a few exercises to help further our understanding of the lesson. We also got the opportunity to look at where we stand with our grades. I'm very glad I went to the extra credit because I know it helped me achieve the grade I currently have. We also found out that we have two options for our final exam which is to make 10 poems or to take the final exam. I better start studying!

Today at Class

We read some passages on the book and even did the exercises. We even saw our grades, and thanks goodness my grade is just fair. Luckily, I didn't fail. But anyway, I'll do the best I can for the final grade. We even went over the test and I don't think I deserve the grade I got. Though it is not close to an F, still I'd like to change that so I can go to higher English.

OHlloo

Today was a pretty chill day. Went over the test, read some passages, and answered some questions. Dr. Rivera showed us our grades and I am happily passing. Woo!!!! I tell the truth when I say that I was scared for the last test. When Dr. Rivera came up with the alternatives, a heat formed around her. Now it is time to rhyme.
Today we were able to find out what we were averaging for the class and I know that I could have done much better if I blogged on time and studied harder for the tests. We were also given back our Test #4 and I was satisfied with my grade. We discussed the options that we have whether to take the Final Exam which cover chapters 1-16 or to write 10 poems. I have yet to decide!

Thank You! Jesus!

First off, I want to say what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving. I'm passing my classes so far! I thought I was going to fail, but I'm not, so thank you God! Secondly, in class we learned a few things and also the semester is almost over, so that means we better get a move on our work. Thirdly, in class we were told that there's the final exam, and it includes chapters 1 to 16, whew! I better get studying, take care everybody, I wish you all the best!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I am glad that I moodled right when I woke up on Wednesday because the thunder and lightning that day cut off the cable and the internet and I had no internet for three days. Although I was the first to moodle, I forgot to blog too. Next time I need to remember to blog right after. We discussed what a definition consists of and the different techniques for writing simple and extended definitions.

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Late

I just remembered that we had a moodle on Wednesday and I just did it today. Oops. Well at least I did it. The moodle was talking about definitions. It was pretty simple and done very quickly. Anyways, having moodle on Wednesday saved me a lot of time and I got to finish my paper. My analysis paper took for ever and I could not seem to finish it, but I did right before my class. Good day.

Moodle

Good thing we just have to meet on moodle. I am so happy because, I have a reason not to leave the house and go school because of the rain and thunder. On moodle, the new topic is about "Definition", and we have to state what it consists of. This topic is also one of the the topics I liked.
I hope everybody had a good day today! See you all next class. And I hope we did well on the test.

Synonym is a weird word

Today in our Moodle session, we talked about chapter 14. This chapter dealt with definitions. I never really took the time to define the word definition or look up the types of definitions until this day. The one I am most familiar with are synonyms. They make life so much easier. :)
Our online session was today, the same as every other Wednesday. The forum was about definitions and what it consists of, and also the techniques for writing the different types of definitions. There are two types of definitions that I've learned today, which are the simple definition and the extended definition.

Moodle Wednesday

This Wednesday was another moodle session, and I have to say that that is something I am thankful for. One reason, is because of the weather's rain, thunder and lightning. It was rainging hard, then sprinkling, and then pouring down with thunder scaring those around us as bursts of lightning lit up the cloudy sky. Thankfully, we didn't have to endure driving in this aweful weather since we did not need to drive to UOG for EN 100, but that may just be me. So, safe driving to everyone, and I hope we see some of those wonderfully sunny skies, and blue water, that is commonly assocciated with islands.

Monday was test day

On monday we took a test, and I hope that everyone did well on it. We were also given the first five minutes of class to make sure we knew the material, and I hope that that had helped everyone- it helped me. So, congratulations to everyone who studied for the test, and I hope everyone did awesome.
Today was alright. I kind of enjoyed the weather. Well, I only had one class today because my other class was cancelled and we met in the moodle room. Speaking of which, I just finished moodling. I enjoyed it a lot. So other than that I slept most of the day! See you next time. I can't wait to see our test. Good luck!
Although I had a very busy day I am glad that I had found the time to moodle and participate in the online sessions. Thank you Anthony Quitugua for reminding me. In the session we discussed how to write a definition. We also explored techniques in definition writing.
Today we discussed writing a defintion. We also learned different techniques for writing simple definitions. The different techniques include the basic dictionary meaning, synonyms, direct explanation, indirect explanation, and analytical or formal definition. I learn so much from these sessions its amazing.
Today we met on moodle which I was very happy with because the weather outside made me lazy to do anything. On moodle we had to discuss what definition was and the techniques that come with the short and extended writing. I hope the weather is nice on Monday so I won't be lazy or tired in class. See you all on Monday and have a good weekend.

Chillin'

Today is just crazy! I did not see a source of sunlight at all. I made sure, though, that it would not make me lazy. I did the moodle session, which was on "Chapter 14: Definition: Clarifying Terms". I realized how easy it is to take at least 30 minutes of my time to do this simple, but important assignment. See you ninjas on Monday.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Rainy day

I am glad we did not have class today and it was online. The weather was crazy! It was raining really hard as I was driving home. So we did our regular online class and today we had to discuss about definition: clarifying terms. That was about it. I will see you all at class on Monday!

SUNNY/RAINING

What a weather, we have our moodle class today and it was great to talk about definition. Chapter 14 in our text book is about definition and how and where to used it. Our final is coming up very fast and it makes me nervous I am praying that I can pass this class this semester.
Great today is moodle session day. Today's moodle session was very interesting one. It was on chapter 14 which was on definitions. We had to discuss what consists in a definition. We also had to give different types of techniques of definitions. Theres 2 types on is the simple definition and the other one is extended definition. The simple is the short one and the extended one is the longer definitions.
I need to start to bloging every class time because I tend to forget most of the time. Well for Monday's class we took our fourth test which was okay in a way. I know I could of studied more instead of procrastinating like I always do. After the test I foud that I had to return a hard copy of my self reflection midterm which was okay because I had it saved. Other then the test we took that day it was a very great day.

Test #4

The test #4 is quite fair but, I jonestly do not know the answers for fill on the blanks. When it comes to that, I always have the mental block. I wish I did good on this test. I really want to pass this class so I can go to higher English and start my prerequisite for my intended major. I hope, everybody did good on the test! See you guys on moodle session!

Monday, November 15, 2010

Today's class was amazing. I love surprises so today was totally my day. Hopefully my grade surprises me too. Although, I highly doubt it.

Test 4

Today we took test 4. I wish I studied harder, I didn't know what parts to study for, so I tried my best to study all three chapters. I doubt I got a good grade though. Hoping for a B at the most. My study habits have to change!

Test #4

Today we took our Test #4, the last test before our Final Exam! I hope I did good. I thought the test was okay, it was just the true and false that I was hesitant about. I know I kept telling myself that I was going to study my heart out for the tests but I kept procrastinating. I'm satisfied with my grades though. Time to concentrate and get ready for the Final Exam! See you all in the moodle room.
Today we took test #4. In my opinion, I think I did good. At first I was hesitant when studying because the material seemed to be harder for me to store in my head but I eventually was able to store it. Maria, Monica, Andrea, and I always seem to be the last ones in class and I think it's because we always look over our answers way too much. Also the last extra credit was hard for me because it was hard to come up with a sentence that began with a D but I eventually found something. See you all in the moodle room for next class!

You Testing Me?!

Today I took Test #4 with my wonderful classmates. I was informed of this test just this morning, so I studied from 11 o'clock to when I fell asleep in the library around 3. I feel pretty confident with my performance, but I wish I read the syllabus. Well, if i fail, I can't blame anyone but myself.

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Tests

Today we took another test, and it was dealing with chapters 9, 10, 11. It was hard for me, because I didn't have time to study, because I had a take home test to finish for my intro to teaching class, and it's a major time consumer. I tried to study for the test but my mind was stuck on the test, so basically I couldn't keep my mind off the test, hopefully I did well. I also found out that I had to apply for my classes for next semester. Hopefully I can find my major before the next year so I can plan out my schedule. Take care everybody, and I wish you the best of luck for this class.

Test #4

Wow! Today was test number four and it was pretty intense for myself. I do not think I did well on this test. It seems as if I am going to have to go into vigorous studying. I have to receive a high grade on this next test and score high on our final exam. For those who are unaware, our last essay is a self-reflection. That is due on the last day of class, according to the calendar of events. Keep your heads up, especially if you are borderline of failing. Good luck everyone! It is almost the end of the semester. :)
So, today we took out test number 4. To be completely honest, I think I did alright. I know that there were some parts that I didn't understand. However, thank goodness for my extra credit! I think this is our second time being the last ones to take the test. Well, after we were done, we left class. See you in the moodle room!

Test #4

Well, we had our fourth test today. I think I did pretty alright. I hope I did. So I'm still at class right now, waiting for my friends to finish their test. They are taking forever, but its okay. They are done now, so I guess I am going to stop here. I'll see you all online next class session.

Test #4

Today, had to be one of the weirdest days so far for class. Class today was nice because I came prepared to take my test and get a good grade. As far as everything goes, it went from good to bad in just a few minutes. When I got my test results back I pretty much failed and when Mrs. Rivera told me that I didn't turn in my Self Reflection Essay it went from bad to worse.

Compare & Contrast

On Wednesday, we had another moodle session, and this one was about comparison and contrast. We were supposed to say what it is, and give an example. If you were to say a comparison now, you could say that all of these blogs are done by EN 100 students, and if you were to contrast, you could say that they are made by different people, and the subjects vary. That was basically what the moodle session was about.
Well Wednesday's class was a moodle session. I really enjoy having moodle sessions. We learned about comparison and contrast. We also had to discuss Thung Tran's essay. Which was well organized. But I know I would of done mine differently I enjoy freewriting.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

On Monday we were able to get our Test #2 and #3 back and I was satisfied with my grades. I know I could have done better though. I need to retain what we have learned in the previous chapters because some questions were from the chapters we already learned about. I'll do better next time.
I almost forgot to moodle but luckily my classmate Dolores Palomo reminded me. However, I was a tad bit late on sending it. I hope it doesn't affect my grade. Well, I believe today was a very productive day. I got most of my work done. So that's about it, tomorrow's Veteran's day! I have a four day weekend! Enjoy, and see you next time!

Moodle day.

Today we had to deal with comparison and contrast. It was easy because everyone knew about this during our elementary years and we dealt with this. I just realized that the semester is ending so we need too study and get ready for our test and our final exam. Hopefully everyone passes the course so we can advance to EN 110.

Pre-Veterans Day Wave!

The Veterans Day Wave across ITC was a lot of fun! All the high schools came together to thank and support our veterans. Today's moodle session was very easy and I comprehended it very well. Comparing and contrasting is what I do on a daily basis, so it was just a refresher for me. The writing process worksheet was very similar to the others. Overall, I understood the whole lesson.

moodle

Today there were two topic to discuss and I tried my best to do so. I almost forgot about moodle today because there were alot that went on on my daily schedule today, but I am still here in our moodle room. Well happy Veterans day to all the Vets that are out there and thank you very much for serving our country may God bless you all. Good luck everyone on our test coming up on monday and enjoy the long weekend.

Moodle

I almost forgot about Moodle session today. We talked about comparing and contrasting. I think I am not so good on these topics because I only have a limited knowledge when it comes to much broader subjects. I just hope we all pass on the test nextweek! I wish myself luck and others as well.. Ciao!
Today there were two topics. I learned about comparing and contrasting. This will help my writing in the near future. Im very glad I am taking this class. It is very helpful.
Today for class we met on moodle. We had to discuss what comparison and contrast was. I learned that comparison is for similarities and contrast is for differences. We also read Tran's writers process worksheet which I thought was very organized because by following the steps he easily displayed the differences between the lives of a woman in Vietnam and a woman in America. Good luck studying and see you on Monday!

Moodle Time

Today was a moodle day. We had to discuss the use of a compare and contrast essay. Luckily, I learned how to do a compare and contrast essay in my English AP class during high school. In my moodle session last week, I talked about a "Venn Diagram." Unfortunately, I used it during the wrong time. It was not meant for a Cause and Effect essay, but today's topic. An error of mine, but no matter. I like those essays as well. Its funny how the basic essays are moodle sessions. Just a reminder to everyone, test is next week so don't forget to study.

Moodle Session 11/10/2010

Today was our online class moodle session. We had to read about comparing and contrasting and discuss our thoughts on the writing process worksheet written by Thung Tran. I thought the readings were informative and helpful.

Moodle

Today was another one of our online class sessions. We had to talk about comparisons and contrast. Then we had to discuss our thoughts on Thung Tran's essay. That was about it for class. Well we have a test coming up on Monday! I need to go study now. I hope you all do well!

Due to no internet access i wasn't able to post on time, but I hope it does not count as an absent. For our class session yesterday we got our test number two and three passed back to us. We all read chapter 12 which talked about classifying things. We worked on exercises and talked about what will be in the next text. see you guys in the moddle sesh!

Late again

I am so sorry Dr. Rivera for not logging in last night or yesterday, I had a technical difficulty. I was calling my receptionist and they let me know that my area will always encounter technical difficulty because I live close to the airport. Any ways class was started yesterday with sharing our experiences for the conference. Then we did some exercises for chapter 12, and then we got to dismissed early so we can used the time to study for our next test.

11/08/10

So for class today, we were in our regular classroom. We started off class by sharing our experiences during the extra credit this past weekend. We also got our test #2 and test #3 back today. I did okay, but I could have done better. It's okay, I can make it up with the extra credit. We also have another test coming up. These tests keep coming up very fast! But hopefully I do well in this one too. We have a week to study for it. Anyway, for class we talked about classifying things into groups. We did a exercise about classifying things you would sell in a yard sale. After going over that, Dr. Rivera dismissed us. Well I got to go study now! Good Luck to you all!
Today was a very productive day! First of all, we got our tests back. I already knew my grade from the second test and I wasn't that satisfied with my test #3. It's okay, I'll make it up on the next test. Well, I know my extra credit will cover that so I'm not worried. Speaking of which, we talked about our experience through the conference. I think it was a success. I enjoyed myself and got to know my classmates more! Besides that, all we did in class was read and did exercises. See you in the moodle room!

Test? Again?...

Today we started class by sharing our experiences of the conference. Then we went over classification. We were given two exercises to do and like always, we share our answers. Then Dr. Rivera told us what to study for for our next test. Hopefully I get a good grade because I did not get a nice grade on Test #3. Luckily, I have extra credit to back it up so I can't mess up this test. There's a moodle Wednesday, then Monday is the test. Hopefully everyone's ready. Good luck!
Today for class we started off by sharing our experiences at the conference some of us attended over the weekend as well as received our tests 2 and 3. After the sharing of our experiences, we learned more about Chapter 12 which describes classification. I learned that things are sorted into persons, places, things, or ideas into groups or classes based on their characteristics. Also that to classify efficiently you should select a plural subject, decide on a principle for a grouping the units of your subject, establish the groups or classes, and write about the classes.

Classification

Today's lesson regarded Classification. Unlike Analysis by Division (chapter nine) you deal with a general topic, such as neighbors, friends, teachers, et cetera. It is similar to high school. The subject would be students. There are many personalities of students. You will have the sports enthusiast, the studious, the active, and the rebellious. It was a confusing lesson at first, but I understood it after the exercises. The exercises confused me at first then I got the hang of it.

Sick:'(

I am so sorry I was not able to go to class today. I was sick over the weekend and until now. I don't feel good because I missed the class. I just hope I could catch up, and hopefully this feeling would fade away. See you guys next class!

I just realized the semester is almsost over :/

Today, we learned about Chapter 12. I felt that I caught on to the subject pretty fast. I learned what overlapping was today. I had a lot of fun imagining a garage sale. I can see what I wrote very vividly in my mind. Tomorrow is the 9th, I can't wait to take my senior pictures! Any ideas as to what i should wear?

What a weekend!

As of last week, i had a blast! I was at a language arts conference and it was for credit for my english class. I was to basically help out to make the conference successful. what happens at this conference is that professors come from universities and some from off island to present their experience in their career, or what they do, or they give lessons to future professors or people who are already a professors. So that's what happened last week, and then today is Monday, and we were in chapter 12 today. We learned about classifcation, for example we had this topic on yard sales and what is sold there, so our assignment was to use plural words like tools, clothes, and appliances. So we had to make this list dealing with those words and what it deals witht he yard sale. Then finally we were reminded that test number 4 is coming fast, and that means more studying for me, good luck on studying for the test!

Sunday, November 7, 2010

Well today was a very interesting day. Today in class we learned about classifications. Then we were able to do 2 exercises which were very helpful. As the semester is ending we have a lot of work and test to do but in the long run I know that it will be very useful to me. Next Monday is our test # 4 and I am going to study really hard for this one because I didn't like my score for the last 3 tests that we took.

EXTRA CREDIT

Today we received our tests. Fortunately I did well, but not excellent, and thanks to this awesome thing called extra credit, I can raise my grade, but that is not all we can do with the extra credit. We can devide it and put some points towards test #1, a few more to test #2 and/or 3, and the rest towards our exam. This shows how helpful the extra credit offered at the conference was, and I am really grateful that i was able to go part of the time since I was unable to be there throughout the entire conference. So, thank you Doctor Rivera, for allowing us this chance at extra credit.

Moodle Time

The moodle sessions I must say is less time consuming. It is just a matter of moodling on time. In today's moodle, we had to discuss cause and effect essays. My favorite part about writing cause and effect essays is the prewriting portion. As we may all know, to organize our thoughts, we use what is called the Venn Diagram. I am not sure why, but I like drawing when it comes to writing.

Moodle

I was blogging when the power went out last night. I was so freaked out and kind of irritated because I should not be doing this by now if only that thing didn't happen. I went to moodle and did the assignments. I find "Cause and Effects" as interesting topics. I remember my gradeschool days wherein my teacher did a certain game where she grouped the class into two groups. The first group would be the Cause, and the second group would be the effect. She made us think of different phrases. It was so funny because she'd point out to someone and reveal his/her phrase and would mismatch it to the other group who has a different Effect phrase. Example: Effect: My grandmother scolded me. Cause: Because, I jumped off the 10th floor of the building.
Ohh, memories! I just miss being a kid. Anyway, I am just sharing. See you guys next class. Ciao!

No Moodle

I couldn't do moodle lastnight because the Power Outage. I knew I should have did it in the morning. What made it worst is that my cable was out which meant no internet.

Power Outage

I didn't get to moodle last night because the power was turned off due to a transmission failure at the sub-plant near K Mart. I hope Dr. Rivera can excuse me. Anyway, we had to discuss two topics regarding causes and effects so it was fairly easy. I just wish the power didn't turn off because i couldn't do my homework and the house was super hot. Well we have a test next Monday if I'm not mistaken so make sure you guys study. Good luck!

Miss Moodle yesterday,

I was not on moodle in the morning because I worked in the morning then come to class in the afternoon so I was thinking about going online last night after my 8:30 class. We did not even finished yet but the power went out so we all went home around 7:30 last night and I am not sure what time did the power went back on last night.

Music and Moodle:)

As I did my Moodle assignment, I listened to music. I've known since I was in elementary, that I work better with it. Today we had two Moodle assignments. I found that both were fairly easy and completed in a short amount of time. I am very familiar with cause and effect. I remember having to go through it over and over again in middle school. This chapter was quite the breeze.

lazy

Today was just a lazy day for me. I fell asleep in my class, the library, the bathroom, and while I was driving. I am joking on the last one. I tried to do the moodle session, but again, I was falling asleep there too. I'll see you all on Friday. Till then. PEACE!
We had to meet online for our class today, which was mainly about causes and effects. There was a process that Richard Blaylock demonstrated that would help me, or other people, gather information about a particular topic. It was a good discussion for the class.

Moodle? Check!

This time I remembered to post on both moodle subjects today. So, I was able to give an example of a cause and effect, or "why" and "what now," and was also able to post my thoughts on Richard Blaylock's Writing Process Worksheet. I didn't see a third subject for today, and so, I think that I am in the clear.

Monday's Class

On Monday we took our test, and I hope that everyone did well on our Test #3. We were also reminded about the extra credit opportunity this Friday and Saturday. So cross your fingers for the test's outcome, and if you think that that is not enough, then do not be afraid to get some extra credit on Friday.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Today we met on moodle were we had to discuss what cause and effects is. Cause and effects deals with reasons and results. It's either brought up as a whole or separated. We also had to discuss Richard Blaylock's essay which I thought was organized but could have been presented in more depth to interest me as a reader. Have a good weekend and see you all next class!
Well I just finished the moodle session and it was very interesting. It helped me to understand the cause and effect more.Richard Baylock's worksheet was very organize. I believe that it would help me in the long run. I love moodle sessions.
So today is moodle day! Thank goodness, I need to catch up on my sleep. Last night was a long night, and unfortunately it wasn't in my favor. I need some sunshine. It's been raining! Well, I just finished moodling. We had to talk about the causes and effects. It was pretty self explanatory. See you next time and enjoy your weekend! (:
My apologies. I forgot to blog on monday. However, it was a very interesting day. I spent most of my time studying before our class. Although it was only based on one chapter, I knew I had to get everything down. Well, in class, all we did was take the test and went over the extra credit for this weekend. I'm so excited for that. I think it's pretty funny how Andrea, Dolores, Maria, and I are one of those who use up the whole class time. We are usually the last ones to finish. As side from that, I hope I did good on the test. I hope everyone did!
I totally forgot to blog on monday. The test wasnt all that hard but I know I could of done better.  I really hope I pass this test. I think I could of done better if I showed up for the last class.

Test 3

I want to say at first that I thought this test was going to be the hardest but it wasn't. I'm surprised to see this test was easy, maybe because I studied really well on this one. Well anyways I feel really confident on this test, because all we did was read these stories and talk about the thesis, what kind of introduction was used, what was the main topic, and other things. Also i'm going to the language arts conference on Friday and Saturday and I hope I will do good there. See you there Dr. Rivera!

Monday, November 1, 2010

We took Test #3 and I did not know what to expect because it only covered chapter 8. Now I know to pay more attention when we do the exercises in class because it might just be on the next test. There were also other questions pertaining to the previous chapters and I did not retain what I learned so I have to work on that. Overall, I beleive I did okay on this test. See you all in the Moodle room!
For todays class we took our third test. I found the test okay but pretty hard during the fill in the blank. While taking my test Dr.Rivera explain that only one more person can go to the extra credit without paying for the ticket. She wrote our names down and picked one. Now i get to earn some extra credit!

Test 3

It felt really good to see the test after I had studied. I studied for a good two hours. I felt that I did pretty good on the test. I wish I studied more though. I look forward to seeing my test score.

Test #3

So I almost forgot to blog today, if it weren't for my dearest friend Dolores to remind me on Facebook. Thanks again! Anyway, for class we had our Test #3. I can honestly say it was pretty hard. However, I think I did okay. Well we have that extra credit thing coming up on Friday and Saturday. I'm kind of excited! I just hope that extra credit is worth it. That's it for now. I'll see whoever is going to the extra credit on Friday!
Today we took test #3. Personally it was quite hard for me. Although it was just a coverage of one chapter, I felt as if I didn't know what exactly to study. The test was fairly hard but as long as I tried my hardest, I'm hoping for the best. I almost forgot to blog like I did on the last test day but luckily I remembered. We're meeting on moodle for our next meeting but I'll still be seeing some portion of the class on Friday and Saturday for the extra credit. Have a good weekend!

Test Day

Today we had a test. Thankfully it was regarding one chapter. I found the test rather simple so hopefully I would receive a high grade. I was nervous about today, but I am glad I got through it. If I don't, then I would have to make it up at this week's extra credit opportunity. I am confident however that I will get a high grade. I got a "B" the last time and I studied for this test so hopefully I will do that well.
